Open Source Quantum Computing

PUBLISHED ON DEC 2, 2018 — TECHNICAL

Spent Sunday afternoon/evening poking around an open-source quantum computing framework called the Quantum Information Science Kit (Qiskit). The goal of the framework/kit is to make general quantum computing accessible to anyone, no matter their background, who might have an interest. The kit is based on Python, is super easy to learn, and can run your quantum programs via a built-in simulator or on actual IBM Q hardware. IBM has made it a point to provide free access to several of their quantum computers and Qiskit makes using that hardware as simple as can be. There’s even a VSCode extension that makes developing quantum circuits and applications even faster.
